Lance's Story...
Hello, my name is Lance. I am a 2 yr old German Shepherd. In my short life I have had quite a few homes and I am really looking for my forever home. My previous homes did not give me the structure and exercise that a young dog needs. I have been in my foster home for quite some time and am doing very well. My foster mom says that it is time to find a family of my own though!I am currently living with four other dogs and do well with all of them. I also get to go to doggie day care a few times a week and really enjoy it.I also live with three cats in my foster home and do well with all of them. I am very social with everyone that I have met, including children.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Lucky Dog Foundation encompasses the shared mission among many rescue groups to save animals from high kill shelters, but also provides help where the need is the greatest. Just this year we donated over 1500lbs of dog food to other small local organizations and the homeless in Los Angeles County. In August and October we offered free microchip clinics to the community. We saved two litters of blind deaf dogs from euthanization. We cared for numerous dogs pulled from animal shelters in the 11th hour, along with over 30 unweaned puppies surrendered without mothers needing around the clock care. We educated the public on pet first aid, handing out fee booklets. Alerted three dog owners about the danger of foxtails in their dogs eyes, referring them to a clinic for treatment. We provided 10 free training sessions with our organization's trainer to help keep dogs in their homes who would have otherwise been surrendered due to a correctable behavior issue.

All the cases above have something in common. These dogs are all now Lucky Dogs with the help of the Lucky Dog Foundation.

Lucky Dog Foundation resources are used to provide education and awareness regarding animal abuse, animal abandonment, spay and neuter and back yard breeding. We strive to provide current and new pet owners with tools to be the best guardians for their animal companions. We want every dog to be a lucky dog, no matter where or how they got their start.
Our Adoption Process...
We do not have a brick and mortar shelter- our animals are housed in private foster homes- and an approved application is required before meeting with any of our available pets!

ADOPTION FEES

*Purebred and designer breed puppies 8 weeks through 9 months are $500 with a $75 fully refundable spay/neuter deposit (if applicable)

*Mix breed puppies 8 weeks through 9 months are $400 with a $75 fully refundable spay/neuter deposit (if applicable).

*Dogs 10 months through 2 years of age are $300.

*Dogs 3 years through 7 years are $250.

*Dogs 8 years and over are $200.

Most new dogs will require training regardless of age. Please make sure you and your family are ready for the expense, work, and commitment needed to ensure a successful adoption. While we try to pre-screen medical and temperament issues before placing an animal for adoption, some behaviors or conditions can go undetected. We will be happy to help in any way should this happen, but cannot guarantee health or temperament. The adoption procedure involves these steps:

1. Complete an application.

2. Interview with one of our volunteers.

3. Have a home inspection and get-acquainted meeting with the pet.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, the Lucky Dog Foundation is a unique, private, non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals and enriching the lives of people. The Foundation is a dynamic, evolving institution that is an agent of change for the animal welfare world.

We don’t have a brick and mortar structure- rather we house our animals in private foster homes throughout the greater Los Angeles area. We have an extensive network of fosters whom we train and support to best take care of the animals until forever homes are found.

We primarily exist to support the shelters but our animals come from all different situations, including owner surrenders. Sometimes our job isn’t just to secure an animal and to take it under our wing, but instead help someone keep their pet, with advice and training; to advocate spay and neuter, so we can limit the number of animals that may need our help later; as well as to convey the plight of these animals in need, so the community too, might realize that their help is needed- and valuable. It doesn’t take a great amount of time or energy to support animal rescue- just motivation to do your part!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lance, a La Mirada German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in La Mirada, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in La Mirada.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in La Mirada already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a La Mirada breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in La Mirada paves the way for another one to be saved.
