Gizmo's Story...
This handsome little guy is Gizmo, a 4 year old shihtzu that came to us from our Newark facility in search of a great home. Gizmo was found wandering as a stray, and it's very sad to think of this innocent little sweetheart being out on his own, especially with Gizmo's little condition. Gizmo has a dropped hock, which is not a painful condition, but it causes him to walk on three legs occasionally. He is receiving physical therapy and wears a brace to strengthen his limb, and will not require any corrective surgery. Gizmo gets around just fine and he is just the perfect little gentleman. He is just so easy going, laid back and such a calm little guy. Gizmo just loves everyone that he meets and makes friends everywhere he goes. He doesn't seem to mind other pets but would prefer a home with no small children under the age of 12. Please give this little sweetheart the fresh start in life that he is hoping for. 11/15/12 File#22057

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gizmo, a Forked River Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
