Tango's Story...
Why Choose me?
Poncho and Chico haven’t been at Animal Control long so they are still quite frightened, and didn’t want to come outside for a picture. We didn’t want to scare even more, so we decided to get the best picture we could from the inside of their run. We tossed them a little treat, and in one of the pictures you can see them analyzing it In another day or two they will be more comfortable, and another Athenspets volunteer will be able to get more flattering pictures. Stay tuned!

Please refer to the animal's ID number when calling animal control about a dog.
Time is of the essence for animals at this shelter; act quickly if you are interested.

(Please excuse Maestro's poorly shot photograph. It was cold and he was scared. More will be posted once he is acclimated to the shelter better.)

Act quickly to adopt Tango. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tango, a Athens Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Athens, or seeking a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) puppy from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
