Skye's Story...
If you think he sounds too perfect to be true, you are right. Skye is wary of strange people/noises, takes a while to warm up to new people and has a strong prey instinct. These attributes make him an effective watchdog, but he probably wouldn't do well in a bustling household, a house with cats/small children or an unfenced yard. A strong and patient master will be rewarded with a loving, loyal, protective and entertaining new member of the family.
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.

Skye is an intelligent and curious boy who tries very hard not to miss out on anything! He will follow you all over the house to observe what you are doing, but is happy to settle down for a nap once he feels confident all his ducks are in a row. A perfect day for Skye includes some exercise, a few naps, some belly rubs, a car ride, a chew toy, watching for squirrels and letting you know when anything is amiss within his domain. Skye behaves well in the house, even when left alone for extended periods of time......no accidents, laying on furniture, counter surfing, dumpster diving nor chewing (ok, I left out the occasional missing sock). Due to his good house manners, Skye has full access to his foster home, but will often choose to sleep in his crate (even though he isn't fond of being closed in). Skye knows some basic commands like 'sit', 'stay' and 'come'. He loves his daily walks, doesn't pull excessively and gets excited every time you put on your shoes or go anywhere near his leash. Skye has gotten along with other dogs in his foster neighborhood.

The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
