Huckleberry's Story...
Huckleberry is one of the coolest, most awesome cats ever! He was born June 2012. He’s loving, laid back, funny, smart, and very sweet to humans and cats alike. “I’ll be your Huckleberry!”…(“Tombstone”…get it?!)

This cat has swagger, sauntering around Petco like he owns the place. He’s not one bit afraid of strangers, and will often walk on over to say hello to friends to get a few pets in. He also will walk on a leash like a dog (in a safe and quiet area around your house), so you can both enjoy catching some sun and admiring the season’s greenery.

His playful nature makes for tons of fun. One of his favorite games is tag, so long as you agree to always be “it”; He’ll run full tilt in one direction, wait for you to catch up, and then bound the other way so you can try to catch him again. Once he lets you win, you can pick him up and snuggle against his soft, plush coat. He loves to be petted and have some human companionship, whether on his adventures or relaxing on the couch. When he’s really happy, he’ll roll around with joy while you’re petting him, looking absolutely adorable.

He likes other cats too and is very sweet and patient while making friends with them. His favorite playmate is his sister, Raspberry. Huckleberry must be in a home with another young kitty to run around and play with (maybe Raspberry?). He’s also willing to share his toys so long as he still has some to wrestle with.

Huckleberry tested negative for FIV & FELV and has all his shots.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Huckleberry, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
