Peter's Story...
"Hello there everyone...if you are looking for a really cute, fun-loving, and quite handsome Bull Terrier fellow, then you need to come and get acquainted with me at the El Cajon Animal Shelter. My name is PETER, and I'm just six months old. I'm still a puppy, but you know that I am ready and willing to learn all kinds of new things. I already walk nicely on the leash, and I enjoy getting brushed, too. I'm quite entertaining, and you should see me chase shadows in our play yard. Maybe I was named after Peter Pan, since he's always after his shadow. I'm a very curious boy, and I love to check out everything when the dog walkers take me out for a walk. My personality knows no bounds! I have really great-looking markings, and the greatest smile, too! My owners had to leave me at the shelter because pets are not allowed at their new home, so I'm in need of a new forever home. Just so you know, I'd need to be the only pet in my new home, and I'd do best in an adult home. We can get acquainted in one of our wonderful exercise yards they have for us here at the shelter, so just ask one of our great Shelter Staff to introduce you to the incredibly friendly and adorable dog whose name is PETER, and we just might discover that we are meant to be best friends "FUR"EVER. We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.

We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.

We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.

We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
