Sam is one fun, neat dog. He is your typical 1 year old puppy - friendly, energetic, playful and loving. He's a happy guy and has yet to meet a person or another dog he doesn't like. If you are looking for a playmate for another dog or a pup you can take hiking, walking or running with you, Sam might be your guy. He's going to do best in a home with a yard and opportunities for plenty of exercise and playtime. He does have a lot of energy but all he needs is adequate playtime - either with another dog or his human friends (or both, of course!) and then he's perfectly happy to settle down to watch a movie while sprawled out in your lap or to chew contentedly on a bone while you work.
He also adores his toys and is a master fetch player. He walks very well on a leash and knows his basic commands. As with any young dog, he will continue to need guidance and training to learn and reinforce good behaviors. He appears to have corgi in him and basenji as well and some of his siblings looked to have heeler too. And there are certainly other breeds in him as well...he's an all-american mutt! Because he can be rather rambunctious when playing, he probably would be too much for small children but would probably be okay with older children and teens in the home. Sam is also crate trained and as he is used to a pool, he is fine in a yard with an unfenced pool. For more information or to request an application, please email swoolcott@cox.net. About our adoption process: For more information or to request an adoption application (required), please contact the dog's foster listed above. There is no commitment by submitting the application - it just helps us determine if the pet you are interested in will be a good match for you. Next is a meet and greet at one of our adoption events - typically held on Saturdays at the Petsmart in Chandler, AZ (Ray Rd & I-10). Not every pet is at every event so please contact us first to find out when and where you can meet the pet you are interested in. If there are other dogs in your household, we suggest bringing them to ensure everyone gets along. The standard adoption fee for dogs and puppies is $140 (cash or check) which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations, microchip and collar/tags. Sam is a featured dog with just a $75 adoption rate!

Benji's Buddies is a non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of pets into permanent, loving homes.
Benji's Buddies was founded by a small group of volunteers who value every pet and believe in their unique individuality and their ability to enrich the lives of others.
We believe that adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and that no matter what turns life may take, the responsibility and obligation to that pet as a family member should remain constant. Pets are NOT disposable! They are living beings who feel love, fear and loss. Too often in rescue work, we see the result of human cruelty and negligence. These pets are desperate to be loved though their trust has been broken. We feel they deserve better!
We seek adoptive families who understand the meaning of this commitment and want to give a home to a pet in need. By home, we mean a place of love and security...for the rest of their lives.
You can meet our dogs every Saturday from 10am - 3pm at the Petsmart in Chandler, AZ located at 855 N 54th Street Chandler, Arizona 85226.
