1/16/13 – Sandy is going great! She was spayed, had her teeth cleaned and had surgery on her hip last week. Everything went great and she is recuperating. She really wants to run and play with the other pups, but she needs time for her belly to heal from her spay. She is using her leg as well, which is great. This should keep her from having issues in the future. She is a really sweet and happy girl that loves people. She has even started giving kisses recently and her tail is usually wagging.
1/1/13 - In the middle of December I was out wandering the street in my hometown in Maryland when I wasn't paying attention and ran out in front of a car. I was hit by two different cars and was rushed to the emergency vet. They found a gash on my side, an abrasion on my knee, some road rash on my nose, and my hip was dislocated. They attempted to put my hip back into joint, but unfortunately it did not go back in. I was then sent to the local animal shelter because no one knew where my family was. I stayed at the animal shelter for a couple of weeks and my family never came to get me. The people at the shelter were very nice to me. They cleaned my wounds every day and applied ointment to them as well as gave me pain meds and antibiotics to help with all my injuries. The day before I was going to go to doggy heaven a nice lady in North Carolina drove all the way to Maryland to save me! I now reside in North Carolina, boy is the weather different down here! I have to say I do like it! I went to another dogtor the other day and again they attempted to put my hip back into place and it simply will not go. From what I can tell, I will be going back to the dogtor on the 11th so they can do their magic to try and fix my hip and I will be spayed, whatever that means. I sure hope my hip doesn't bother me after the surgery. It doesn't always bother me now, but it sure has its moments where it hurts. My foster mommy and daddy keep telling me how sweet I am and were thinking of calling me Candy because I am as sweet as sugar! The rest of the furkids in my foster home scared me a little at first when I met them and I let them know that, but I feel better now and am settling in nicely. I try and play with them sometimes, but am still working on feeling completely comfortable, and then some just are not interested in playing. I don't quite understand that. Well, I am going to go back to watching the other kids to learn what everyone does here in my new foster home. I hope everyone had a happy new year!
