Kipper's Story...
I came all the way from Kentucky where a really nice lady drove me to here - Knoxville. So far the people I met are really nice and I am glad that I am finally safe. You see my family dropped me off at a shelter because I did not like living in the backyard - honestly, I was trying to escape but they kept catching me. All my friends told me there is a better life out there - you just have to find. Well, I think I finally did. So, here I am - 3 years old, all boy and I THINK I am 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/2 Irish Setter. I do have a real pretty red coat. I like people and I am very submissive to humans. I was told I was healthy as a horse and ready for my new home. Oh, and I think cats are squirrels and I want to eat them so if you have a cat, I might not be the right fit.

NOTE: Adopt A Golden Knoxville rescue doesn't have an actual shelter building in your area. These dogs are fostered in private homes in East Tennessee. Therefore, it is not possible to meet the dogs and pups prior to their adoption. They are brought up north on a USDA transporter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kipper, a Glastonbury Golden Retriever/Irish Setter dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever/Irish Setter for sale in Glastonbury, or seeking a Golden Retriever/Irish Setter dog from a breeder in Glastonbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Glastonbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Glastonbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever/Irish Setter breeders who help with Golden Retriever/Irish Setter rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Glastonbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
