He has lots of energy and is looking for a home with someone who will play with him or take him on long walks. Max is very affectionate and wants to snuggle once he gets out some of his energy. Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
The Director started it all by volunteering at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control as an adoption counselor. She then went on to fostering for them as well. After networking with many people and the encouragement of her family, she retired from the teaching field in May 2010 and started AZ Furry Friends Rescue Foundation. Her daughter-in-law jumped on board and the two of them run the Rescue. Over the course of a year and a half, they have taken on volunteers and foster parents, and they couldn't have grown without them!
AZ Furry Friends Rescue is a New Hope Partner with MCACC and a Rescue Partner with Arizona Humane Society. It is a goal in the near future to also be a member of PAC911. Our long term goals include sponsoring a feral colony, set up a community spay/neuter program and have a facility.
We do this for the love of cats and dogs, and to bring people and pets together.

Our Adoption Process...
Whether from the foster's home, or at an adoption event these are the steps we take:
Dogs: If the adopter has a dog and is looking for a companion, we require them to bring their dog for a meet and greet. If the dogs get along, and the people decide this is the dog for them, or they are getting their first dog, there is a two page questionnaire they fill out. If the answers satisfy our criteria, we proceed with the adoption agreement. The fees for dogs is $180 and it includes the sterilization, shots, microchip, one month of pet health insurance.
Cats: We encourage the potential adopter to interact with the cat as long as they want (and as long as the cat permits). During that time, the discussion of declawing versus clipping nails is brought up, and we educate people about declawing and offer alternative methods of keeping kitty from destroying their furniture. If the adopter have decided on adopting a cat, there is a two page questionnaire they fill out. If the answers satisfy our criteria, we proceed with the adoption agreement. The fees for cats are $100. The fee includes sterilization, shots, microchip, one month of pet health insurance, the Felv/FIV/Heartworm test as well as the adoption fee.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Generally, we serve Phoenix and the surrounding towns in Maricopa County. We have had people come visit (and adopt!) from Payson, Prescott and Casa Grande as well as Silver City, New Mexico.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Max, a Phoenix Pug/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pug/Chihuahua for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Pug/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pug/Chihuahua breeders who help with Pug/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
