Emmett's Story...
Hi! My name is Emmett. I was found wandering around in a neighborhood with an infected eye and lacerations on my ears, nose and paw. I am so glad to be off the streets. I don't belong there - I am a lover not a fighter. The people who took care of me at the vet all thought I was such a wonderful boy because I didn't mind them taking care of my wounds and I even rolled over on my belly so they could give me belly rubs. I am just a big teddy bear. I love people and I love attention. I will sit in your lap and "make biscuits." I will roll over and let you rub my belly. I just need someone who will take me in and let me do those things.

I did have a weakly positive FIV test. They aren't sure whether or not I have FIV so I will be tested again in 4 to 6 months. Even if I test FIV positive, with a high protein diet and aggressive treatment of any infection I might get such as an upper respiratory infection, I should have a reasonably normal life span. Please don't let thie possible diagnosis stop you from adopting me - I will so make it worth your while if you take a chance on me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emmett, a Smyrna Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Smyrna, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Smyrna.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smyrna already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smyrna breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smyrna paves the way for another one to be saved.
