Four million dogs are abandoned every year in the United States. Two million of those dogs are put down. Many dogs only have a chance of being adopted -- of having a second chance at life and love -- if they are taken in by a rescue organization. Bay State Dogs is one of those rescues. But being a shelterless rescue, there is no building where our dogs are housed. So we rely on -- we NEED -- people to volunteer to foster our dogs until they placed in loving forever homes.
Some people say they could never foster because they couldn't stand the thought of getting attached a dog then having to let him go. But could you stand the thought of that same dog never getting a second chance because there was no foster home for him to go? Fostering can be the most rewarding thing a true dog lover can do to support dogs in need. And we do our best to match the right dog to the right foster home to ensure a fulfilling experience for everyone.
