Well hello! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Paul and I came to the shelter as a stray. My paw pads had boo boos on them and I was in a lot of pain. The nice veterinary staff cleaned up my wounds and told me that I needed to rest for a few days in my kennel. I took their advice and used that time to catch up on my sleep. Now, my paws are good as new and I am ready to find my forever home.
Here’s what you should know about me. I am young, about a year old. I am a playful boy so I get to participate in the shelter playgroups with other dogs. I love to play with other dogs, so if you have a playful canine companion and you are looking to add another canine companion to your family, I’m your guy! I take corrections well from other dogs, so I will let your dog be the boss. I am a medium sized boy with really soft fur. I like affection and attention from my human friends. I haven’t been cat tested so if you have a kitty, just ask the nice people at the shelter to cat test me.
My life thus far has been pretty tough, but I harbor no ill feelings. That’s my past it doesn’t have to be my present or my future. This time around I want to be adopted by a person or people committed to caring for me and loving me forever. I will certainly return that love and care, and I will show my gratitude every day.
The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.
In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!
Our shelter is open weekdays, 1pm – 8pm, and weekends, 10am – 5pm for adoptions. 8am-6pm daily for foster.
