NEW VIDEO! Taken after the snowstorm: http://youtu.be/DaoN7DUWj9Y That is Muffy barking :-)

Harry was found roaming as a stray in rural Kentucky. He was very frightened when he was finally caught by some kind locals and brought to the pound. There is very little adoption interest in that part of Kentucky, so Fuzzy Face Rescue decided to rescue him. Harry is VERY playful, and LOVES toys of all kinds. He will entertain himself for several minutes at a time in the fenced yard, throwing various toys (tennis balls, soccer balls, stuffed snakes, squeaky toys, and perhaps his favorite, the kong wubba) around, chasing after them, and running laps with joyful exuberance. You can see this jubilant energy at being out of the pound in the video. Harry has a mischievous streak and will also "borrow" socks, mittens and the like, and bound around the yard with his "prize". He will easily and happily give it up for another toy. :-) He is still a bit skittish with strangers or new situations, but warms up to new people very quickly. For example, at the veterinary clinic, he was nervous, but was nudging the vet within a couple of minutes to pet him. Obedience training will also help build his confidence, as well as harness some of his schnauzer puppy exuberance and work on general canine manners. Harry learns very quickly, and I was able to teach him to sit within a minute of training, and to go in his crate when cued. Another favorite activity is snuggling on the couch with his foster mom and the resident dogs as I type away. :-) Harry is still getting used to walking on lead; it does not appear he ever had a leash attached to him before coming into rescue.

Harry looks very much like a schnauzer mixed with poodle. Of course, that is just a guess based on appearance (especially before his haircut-look at the "before" shots on the link below) and temperament. Harry is about a year and a half old and weighs 29 pounds.

Photos of Harry taken at the pound in KY; on his first full day in CT; on 12/28/12; and several taken just after the snowstorm can be viewed at this link (47 photos to view): http://www.wikialbums.com/?Lpw7wyglaXilUv4VNli

PLEASE NOTE: WHEN YOU EMAIL TO INQUIRE ABOUT HARRY BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR LOCATION IN YOUR EMAIL, AND PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY/LIFESTYLE, YARD (size, whether it is fenced), SCHEDULE, DOG EXPERIENCE, ETC. IN THAT INITIAL EMAIL INQUIRY. WE ONLY RESPOND TO EMAILS THAT INCLUDE THIS INFORMATION.

If there are children in the family that is applying to adopt, they must be over 8 years old. Harry would do best with a physically active family and a fenced yard in which to romp.

Harry is neutered, up to date on routine vaccinations, heartworm negative, and crate trained. He is on heartworm preventative and
frontline.

Fuzzy Face Rescue's adoption process includes an adoption application, reference checks and a home visit. We will only adopt to people who are located within 90 minutes driving distance from the 06371 zip code. Exceptions are occasionally made if I have a good rescue friend who lives nearby your location who'd be able to complete the home visit (NY, NJ, VT, NH, ME, RI) Please email us at scruffafluffrescue@gmail.com for an application if you are interested in adopting HARRY!

Harry is being fostered in Lyme CT.

NOTE that if you use yahoo or AOL (or any other email other than gmail), email may end up in your spam box, so check it frequently if you have inquired on or applied for Harry. This has happened repeatedly to applicants when I send the application to them; the applicants think that I have not responded, when in fact my email to them has ended up in spam.

Please also note that we cannot guarantee whether Harry's coat is hypoallergenic, although noone in the foster home is allergic to him.
