Franklin's Story...
Why Choose me?

I first noticed Franklin sitting in the very back of his kennel where no one could reach him. I could tell from afar that he was a very handsome guy, but he was a little uneasy about coming to the front of his pen. He may have been too shy to come up to me, but he had no problem with me going back there to him. He didn’t mind me slipping the leash on him, and he walked out with me effortlessly. The first thing I noticed about Franklin once I had him outside was just how wonderfully he walks on a leash. He is calm, and he walked right next to me with such ease. I feel that Franklin has been trained well, and his spotless pen probably indicates that he has been housebroken. Unlike many dogs who are loud and rowdy when they first arrive at the shelter, Franklin was on his best behavior and minded his manners. Franklin has long, black hair with a subtle tint of red. His face is long and handsome, and all I wanted to do was kiss his soft head to reassure him that everything is okay. I hope Franklin’s owners will know to reclaim him, but if they do not show up, Franklin is all yours! Come check out this calm and collective boy, and just remember to please be slow with him and let him earn your trust.

Act quickly to adopt Franklin. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Franklin, a Athens Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Athens, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
