The application/screening process for potential adopters usually takes about 24 hours except when it falls over a weekend or holiday, and then it may take two or three days. We ask that potential adopters please be patient with us; we are only trying our best to ensure that the homeless pets in our care get the best possible home. All cats and dogs adopted from our shelter are spayed or neutered (as Texas law mandates).

Our adoption fee is currently $70 for non-residents and $75 for residents*.

The adoption fee includes:

spaying/neutering
vaccinations (appropriate to species and age)
heartworm or feline leukemia test (appropriate to species and age)
de-worming medication
microchip (a tiny ID tag inserted under the skin, which allows your pet to be returned to you quickly)

There is a $5 Pet License fee added to the adoption fee if the adopter lives inside the City Limits of Georgetown.

About Our Shelter...
We have a lot of success stories because of the great staff and wonderful volunteers. We have foster families that take in young or injured pets. The staff and volunteers work hard to maintain a safe and healthy place for our pets. We have a once a month spay/neuter clinic and we have several outside the shelter adoption events each month. We offer microchip services. Every animal deserves a great home and we work hard to see that they get one. We always need more volunteers, foster families and donations.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our shelter hours are 11-6 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 12 -4 on Saturday and Sunday. We are located behind the SanGabriel Park next to the soccer fields. We usually have some adoptable cats at PetsMart in Wolf Ranch and once a month adoption events at Market Days, Red Poppy Festival, and Christmas Stroll, call for more information.
Our Adoption Process...
We have an adoption application for dogs and cats. The process takes 2-3 business days and the applicant will be notified whether or not they are approved for the adoption. If the applicant lives within the city limits of Georgetown, the fee is $75, $70 if outside the city limits. It includes city license (if applicable), spay/neuter, rabies and basic shots, microchip, dog heartworm test , wellness check with a contracted Georgetown vet, bag of food and lots of information on pet care. We also have a senior to senior adoption process, call for information on it.
The city license is required for all dogs and cats within the city limits and a current rabies vaccine is required to purchase the license.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We serve only the city of Georgetown, TX.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emma, a Georgetown Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Georgetown, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Georgetown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Georgetown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Georgetown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Georgetown paves the way for another one to be saved.
