Rosie's Story...
The first step in our adoption process is an application, which you can submit online at www.littlebitsrescue.org It does not obligate you in any way, but we do not arrange meetings or make telephone contact until we have one. Rosie is a beautiful little white shih tzu girl who is just under 2 years old (born March 1, 2011). She is a 9.9 pound social butterfly and insists on your attention. She has been spayed, had her immunizations brought up to date, tested negative for heartworms and started on preventative. Rosie is quite a vocal little girl and would not be suitable for a home with shared walls (apartment or condominium). She does not walk on a leash and must have a fenced yard for potty breaks and exercise. Rosie will not be placed in a home with children under the age of 10 or with a dog weighing more than 25 pounds. Her adoption donation is $200, and she is being fostered in Birmingham, Alabama. We do approve out of state adoptions, but you must be willing to drive to the foster home to fetch your new family member. We do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting this sweet baby, the first step is to submit an APPLICATION.

We do not place any dog in a home with "invisible" or underground fencing.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rosie, a Birmingham Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Birmingham, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Birmingham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Birmingham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Birmingham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Birmingham paves the way for another one to be saved.
