Pirate's Story...
Pirate is a swashbuckler. Because once he climbs up into your lap? He'll simply steal your heart... you'll melt away at how adoring this cat is, without him being a nuisance. It's how cats were meant to be. *sigh*

His former owner thought so too. And as you snuggle him close, you'll look deep into his golden eyes and you'll notice that his left eye is just a little off... a little bit lazy. Not that it needs an eye patch, or that it's hard to look at... it's kind of cute! Think of Johnny Depp playing Captain Jack Sparrow and you get the idea.

Most cats with changes in their vision are cross-eyed. But this kitty with his lazy eye is a first for me. And we're nearing a thousand on the number of cats and kittens we've helped place. So this boy is a rare gem. Will a lazy eye cause him any problems? No. Just makes him unique.

The lady who has him in her home, has had him for about a month. Friends of hers rescued him from a home affected by divorce. They had him neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, and he's had complete vaccinations, including the Feline Leukemia series. The vet estimated that Pirate is around three years of age - a young adult and a healthy, happy, affectionate cat.

I asked Nancy what she could tell me about Pirate and this is what she said:

"Unfortunately, the people (who took him in from the ones getting the divorce) discovered that they are both allergic to cats. It was very clear to me that he had been a pet and he's so nice, I would really like for him to have a nice home. He is very social, purrs the minute he's picked up and loves nothing more than being in someone's arms or on a lap.

"I thought I had a home for him with one of my co-workers, but after having him overnight, her son's eyes were swollen shut. She said that he was wonderful, though and both kids were very upset to let him go. He immediately came in and made himself at home - didn't hide and took a nap with her daughter a couple of hours after he arrived.

"He is very neat, does not scatter litter and does not spray. He has medium hair, keeps himself clean and I haven't seen any evidence of hairballs.

Nancy wants this kitty to have the ultimate home - and so do we.

Our adoption rules are simple: Pirate must be an indoor house cat; he must live in a smoke-free home; and he can never be declawed. We're up-front so there are no issues later.

Pirate's adoption fee is $100, and he comes fully vetted, neutered, is negative for FIV/FeLV, has all vaccines including the 3 year rabies, and Feline Leukemia series.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pirate, a Arlington Norwegian Forest Cat cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Norwegian Forest Cat for sale in Arlington, or seeking a Norwegian Forest Cat cat from a breeder in Arlington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Arlington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Arlington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Norwegian Forest Cat breeders who help with Norwegian Forest Cat rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Arlington paves the way for another one to be saved.
