Scruffy's Story...
Scruffy is a super sweet, 12 week old male puppy who was pulled from a very high kill shelter in SE KY in the nick of time. Scruffy had a broken front leg but that has healed back perfectly, he doesn't even have a limp. Scruffy has your typical puppy attitude and just loves to run and play. He loves to pack his toys around. He gets along great with other dogs, cats, and kids. Our vet estimates him to be around 12-15lbs as an adult. Scruffy has funny little thin legs and a tiny body. His coat texture is low to nonshedding so we think he is a terrier/ possible schnauzer mix. Scruffy will be neutered, up-to-date with vaccinations, given a fecal exam (dewormer if needed), and flea preventative. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scruffy, a Hazard Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) for sale in Hazard, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) puppy from a breeder in Hazard.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hazard already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hazard breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Schnauzer (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hazard paves the way for another one to be saved.
