Madison's Story...
Hi. My name is Madison, and I am a 30-year-old Blue Crown Conure. I was very happy in my previous home. My special person loved me. But, something changed; my special person had to go live in a nursing home, and I had nowhere to go. Thankfully, STAR placed me in a foster home.

At first, I was frightened and wouldn’t come to anyone. At least I had my cage and familiar toys. If anyone put a hand in my cage, though, I retreated to the back. I certainly would not step up on an unfamiliar hand. It took the volunteers nearly a month to gain my trust. At first I would get onto a stick. Gradually, I stepped onto a hand. Now, I am learning to cuddle with volunteers. And I even enjoy a neck scritch.

But my sincerest wish is to have a home I can call my own. I need a new special friend. Someone who can cuddle and love me for the rest of my life. Can you be my friend?

Madison's approximate hatch date is 1982, and his adoption fee is $100.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Madison, a St. Louis Conure was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Conure for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Conure from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Conure breeders who help with Conure rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
