URGENT! ATLAS NEEDS A FOSTER HOME ASAP while he waits to be adopted! PLEASE OPEN YOUR HOME TO A RESCUE PET AND HELP US SAVE LIVES!
Atlas is an absolutely stunning Pit Bull mix. He has an amazing muscular build and beautiful golden coat with smokey eyes. He is fairly low to the ground but is pure muscle. He is approximately 10 months old, and still acts like a puppy. He has a lot of energy to play outside, but is also content to lay with you on the couch when it's time to calm down.
Atlas has an outstanding temperament, and does well with little and big dogs alike! He has lived with senior pugs, lab puppies, a german shepherd, and a 5 pound poodle and did great with all of them. He is even good with cats, though we always suggest using caution. Although Atlas will not start trouble and rarely reacts to another dog, he is not submissive if another dog starts a fight, and therefore does best with non-aggressive friendly dogs. Atlas is wonderful with children and has been taught to be calm in the house, especially with kids around.
His favorite thing of all is to snuggle! He absolutely loves being with people. He is a total baby, and although he does not bark, he will whine for attention and expects to be pampered. He thinks he is a lap dog, and enjoys sitting right up next to you- and on your lap if you let him. Atlas is used to living with an at-home mom, and really enjoys the attention, so if possible it would be great if he could go to a family where someone is home most of the day. However, he is very well-behaved when left alone and would be ok by himself if the person does not work long hours. He does not have destructive habits like chewing, and generally just lounges on the bed or couch when no one is home.
Atlas is well housebroken, crate trained, and knows a few basic commands. He is very strong, weighing about 62 pounds, and will need work on walking properly on a leash. Due to his size and at time puppy-like energy, Atlas needs an adopter that is experienced with large dogs, preferably with the pit bull breed. Atlas is very smart and with a good leader will be the perfect family dog.
