Indigo's Story...
Indigo is currently in a foster home. His foster mom states the following: He loves to snuggle with them during tv time. He is very docile in the house and playful outside. He has the very sweetest personality and our biggest hopes for him is to find a family of one or more that will keep him a part of their lives forever. He barks very little and makes no demands. Grateful and loving best describe Indigo.

Interested in Indigo? He may do best with an electric fence. We have a temporary fence and he has dug out several times. Never left the property but we don't like risking it. He likes to (poopy) in the bushes so he looks for better options outside the fence. Always - always comes when called. Very attached to my son and utterly content to lounge -- especially likes to cuddle, but not too needy. If you have other pets plan a period of a couple days for adjustments. Will growl at other dogs he perceives to be a threat, but we are taking him out in public where he is learning he is now safe. He has never growled at humans, rather loves everyone he sees. We are working on his manners of jumping of people he greets and he is much better though now tries to "slither" into their laps. Indigo is a great dog who deserves a loving home!

Shelter Info...

About Our Shelter...
Friends of Citrus County Animal Services (FOCCAS) was formed by a team of concerned citizens who are dedicated to advocating animal welfare, community involvement and humane education. Our mission is to build awareness in the community about the shelter, increase the adopt-ability of shelter animals, highlight our adoptable pets, work to increase pet adoptions and foster alliances with rescues.

FOCCAS is a registered charity in the State of FL and has 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. We have no paid employees or directors. We are 100% volunteer-based. All donations are used to help the animals. Our volunteers provide their own transportation for themselves and shelter pets to adoption events, veterinary care, and rescue groups. Often our pets require extensive medical care for conditions or injuries that are beyond the scope of shelter medicine. Surgeries and x-rays are the most common. We rely entirely on donations and fundraising efforts.

Citrus County Animal Services is the only open-door shelter in Citrus County that takes "all comers". No matter what condition the animal is in that comes through the door - surrendered, found, abandoned - the shelter will try and save the animal and find him/her a loving, permanent home.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We are very active in Citrus county and our schedule of events and locations changes weekly. Please visit our Events webpage to see where we will be this week !!
