Sophie's Story...
Hi, my name is Sophie. I am a sweet and sassy 10 year old spayed female German Shepherd Elkhound mix looking for a forever home.

I have been with the same family since I was 3 months old. An illness in the family and changing housing circumstances means that I am looking for a new home for my golden years. Despite my age, which is just a number, after all, I am active. I love to play and go for walks. I am already house-trained and I "woof" at the door when I need to go. I'd like to see some young pup do that!

I am up to date with all of my shots.I have lived with other dogs, cats, and children and I get along with all of them quite nicely.

I was diagnosed with Lyme disease a few years back and my vet said that it settled in my hips. Some days I like to lounge around the house, but I am fine to go on walks and I love to play!

I take Proin for incontinence and I have never had an accident while on it.

I am very polite. I will sit and wait for my food at mealtime. I will sit and give you my paw.

I am very sweet and loving and would love to have my own family again. Won't you consider coming to meet me?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophie, a Worcester German Shepherd Dog/Norwegian Elkhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Norwegian Elkhound for sale in Worcester, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Norwegian Elkhound dog from a breeder in Worcester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Worcester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Worcester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Norwegian Elkhound breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Norwegian Elkhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Worcester paves the way for another one to be saved.
