Bailey's Story...
Bailey is a very sweet and loving 5 year old blue weim. She came to GLWR through owner surrender due to the family having a child. Bailey loves to run at the dog park, greets and loves all other dogs. She is very people friendly-wandering all over the dog park to say hello to everyone. She does chase after “joggers” in the park, leading her fm to believe she could make a great running companion.
Bailey free roams the house all day. Her family is gone for 10 hours a day and she never has an accident. Her favorite place, of course, is Moms bed. Bailey has her own blanket that she “knits” ( chewing ,but not making any holes). She shares her day with her ½ weim sister, Maddie. Maddie and Bailey are very chummy and are willing to share the bed.
When Bailey first came to her foster home she had some serious “resource guarding” issues. In a few weeks she now let’s her fm take her blanket without growling. Bailey loves attention, and to get it she will “steal” anything available. She has now learned to give up the item with a “graded “reward system. The more valuable the item, the greater the reward (chicken gizzards) are the best. She has responded very positively to treat filled Kongs, that stimulate her and reward her. Her fm believes that Bailey was crated for most of her past life and neglected by the humans she lived with. Bailey would do best in a home with no children, that has time to spend with her, exercise her body and mind. She is such a loving and giving companion that needs someone to help her reach her full potential.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bailey, a Grand Haven Weimaraner dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Weimaraner for sale in Grand Haven, or seeking a Weimaraner dog from a breeder in Grand Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Weimaraner breeders who help with Weimaraner rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
