Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Blake - a retriever mix who is about 1-1/2 years old. There are three words that come to mind that describe him best - stunning, happy and funny!
Blake walks really well on a leash and the other day discovered two new things – a big rock and prairie dogs. His surprise and curiosity were a delight! Blake also enjoys car rides and stays in the back where he should - no crating necessary. He likes to play with toys and is the classic “rip the stuffin' outta them” dog. He knows some basic commands and seems to pick up what his foster parents are teaching him pretty quickly. For instance, in two days he learned how to use the dog door by himself and knows it’s okay to take dog toys out of the basket. A simple "No!" really does the trick from stopping him to do something unwanted.
He is a youngster, so he’ll need supervision and further training to help keep him out of trouble. He is a bundle of energy at times, but does settle down after exercise and play time. It’s really funny to see his eyes get droopy; he doesn’t want to miss a thing, but exhaustion does take over (dang it, he says!). He has accompanied his foster mom at the office and does well there. As of now, he is crated when he needs to be left alone in the house and does okay with that.
Blake would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy kids as he may have a tendency to be a little too rough without knowing it. He gets along well with his foster siblings and his foster home feels he can be an only dog, but proper and frequent socialization will be very good for him.
