Hi! My name is Bialy!
I'm a cute little Beagle/Jack Russell mix and am about 10-weeks old, I was found as a stray when I was about 6-weeks old or so, and I couldn't walk.
My foster mom took me to the vet and also a neurologist they did some x-rays and tests and determined that I have a T11/12 subluxation with T11 caudal endplate fracture causing severe weakness and incoordination of both pelvic limbs. Which basically means that my T11/T12 are dislocated and my T11 also has a fracture and that all of this was preventing my hind legs from working right. I really wanted to walk! I would even look at my legs and try to tell them to move. Everybody was very hopeful about my prognosis because I did still have some voluntary reflexes.
My foster mommy is a canine massage therapist so I get a lot of therapy and massages (love them!) and the neurologist fitted me with a splint / body cast. Silly people think that I am just going to lay around for 6 - 8 weeks doing nothing while they see if everything will help.
So I decided to really show them! I have started trying to walk on my own!!! I got up on all 4s and took a couple of stubbly steps. I have places to go and people to see!! You can follow my progress on my blog: http://lucidapuppyfund.org/puppy-blog/
I am up to date of my age appropriate vaccinations, and have been dewormed; I am too young to be spayed yet but that will happen.
