I HAVE A SPONSOR BUDDY! PART OF MY ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN PAID.
Hi! I'm Venus. I came into the shelter on December 20th 2012.
HEIGHT: 18 inches at the shoulder WEIGHT: 38 pounds
HOW MUCH EXERCISE DO I NEED? Lots! I'm only about a year old so I have plenty of energy to burn. Let's go outside and play fetch!
DO I HAVE ANY SPECIAL TOYS? I love almost all toys! I really enjoy chasing balls and gnawing on chew toys! I love to carry a toy around in my mouth when I'm in my kennel.
AM I A GOOD INSIDE DOG? I would love to live inside with you because I think I'm a big lap dog. :)
DO I LIKE CATS? I'm not sure; if you have felines at home have your Adoption Counselor cat test me.
DO I LIKE CHILDREN? I might be too jumpy for small kids; please bring the entire family in to meet me and make sure we're a good match!
DO I LIKE OTHER DOGS? I've done okay with the dogs here but bring your canine family in to meet me before you adopt!
I'm a great dog ready to find her forever family. I know how to sit and I'm ready to learn more! Please come visit me soon.

Animals adopted from Helping Hands Humane Society must be spayed/neutered by Kansas state law. Families are required to leave a $100 sterilization deposit for animals adopted that are not sterilized at the time of adoption. This sterilization deposit will either be applied to the cost of sterilization or refunded to the adopter once proof of sterilization is presented to HHHS. The following are current adoption fees (which are subject to change at any time):
Unsterilized dogs: $50 adoption fee + $100 sterilization voucher
Sterilized dogs (enter the shelter already spayed/neutered): $50 adoption fee
**Adopters will be required to pay the spay/neuter cost of dogs who have been sterilized by HHHS during their stay at the shelter. The cost of the sterilization will be dependent on the vet used by HHHS: $50 adoption fee + sterilization cost.
All cats will have an adoption fee of $99. This ensures the cat is spayed or neutered, feline leukemia tested, vaccinated and wormed. Adopters will simply have to get their new cat a rabies vaccination and begin basic care with their veterinarian.
Small mammals: adoption fee varies.
We serve the following regions: Northeast Kansas. We are located in Topeka, KS and actively serve the Shawnee county area. Helping Hands Humane Society is an open-door shelter meaning we will not turn an animal in need away despite the location it is coming from.
