And now, a few words from me: My name is Jack and is it play time yet?? I'm around 3-4 yrs old and prefer to be very active so will be looking for a home that can help me burn off some of my excess energy. I like toys but they're all mine. Well, ok, you as a human can take them but no other dogs get them - they're all mine mine mine to play play play. I'm a good boy who was surrendered to a shelter after my owner moved and left me behind, but it honestly wasn't my fault. I'm crate trained and not noisy in the home but I do need my own forever home that will give me lots of exercise and stimulation. My foster mom says I'm smart - too smart for my own good - whatever that means, but I thought I'd share that. Oh, and treats are a requirement in my new home - any and all treats please and thank you.
And now, a few words from my foster mom: Jack is an active boy who loves to play with other dogs but can at times be demanding of play. If they are not open to playing, he doesn't understand and can be rather forceful by barking right in their face, yelling at them for not playing more. If you're considering Jack as your new forever friend and you have a dog already, they would need to be able to hold their own with Jack, both in terms of playing with him and also yelling at him if they are not interested in playing. Jack needs stimulation, exercise and to be busy. He's be spectacular at agility if that's of interest to you. He's small but mighty - he looks much smaller than the 10 or so pounds he is because he is just solid muscle. I can't stress enough that Jack needs a home who will exercise him, join some sort of agility or other sport to help burn off this excess energy and will give Jack the love and patience he needs to learn to be the perfect forever friend. Ideally the forever home will have a fully fenced yard so he can zing around and burn off energy. Leash walks will be great but not enough for him. He doesn't appear to shed much if at all but I can't say for sure if he'd be considered a 'hypo-allergenic' dog for those with allergies. He is good about his potty needs and going to the bathroom outside but I do say to expect accidents when a dog goes into a new home. Jack has access to kibble 24/7 and does not overeat. He will hoard all the treats he can find though and will eat them later so should not be given access to too many at once. He is a lovely boy who - when tired - loves to cuddle but that's not normally the type of dog he is. He's a dog that needs a job, need a purpose and when he's done and tired out, he's a happy dog.

LOYAL Rescue is a foster based rescue with homes located throughout the province and in the United States. We do not operate a shelter, thus do not have viewing hours. Each pet is in a private home. In order to adopt this pet, please visit our website www.loyalrescue.com and fill in our online application. If you have any questions, please email us by clicking here.
Once you submit the online adoption application, we will arrange for a volunteer to contact you to conduct the telephone interview. The same volunteer will also contact your veterinarian and personal references. If the interview and references go well, a home visit will be booked. Should you be the successful applicant for this pet, you are then welcome to come and meet the dog. You are not obligated to adopt if the fit is not correct, however we must go through this process prior to you meeting the dog.
LOYAL Rescue is 100% volunteer run.
Please read the FAQ section of the LOYAL website, prior to applying to adopt from us.

Rescue Group Info...
Although LOYAL Rescue has only been around since 2006, members of LOYAL Rescue have 40+ years of rescue involvement. Through our combined love and dedication to the dogs, we have come together to do what we can to save a life.
All adoptions REQUIRE an application to be filled out. There is an online application at www.loyalrescue.com. Once you complete the application, we will call you to answer any of your questions and confirm details before proceeding. We then call your vet for a reference, and call each of the three references you list on your application. If all goes well, we visit your home to confirm this is the best possible home for the dog you are applying to adopt. If you are approved, you then fill out a contract, pay an adoption fee (between $300-$400) and adopt the dog. ALL DOGS are up to date on shots, spayed/neutered (unless too old, unhealthy or too young to do), dewormed, defleaed and health checked before going to their new home.
We are located in Peterborough, Ontario and serve this area as well as the Kawartha's, across Ontario and even into the Norther States. YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR PET THOUGH as we DO NOT SHIP.
