Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Journey is a wonderful little guy. He came from the home of a hoarder and ended up on the run for 44 days before being found. He was very skinny, malnourished and covered in ticks. He tested Negative for heart worms but tested positive for Lyme Disease as well as a heart murmur. He received treatment for Lyme and is doing very well. The heart murmur is moderate at a grade 3 and doesn't cause him any health issues. It is thought to have developed from the horrible plaque build up on his teeth. He has had a complete dental and he does allow us to brush his teeth with an electric tooth brush, which we do weekly.
Journey has adapted very well to his foster home. He is potty trained and gets along well with other dogs as well as children and new adults. He is not aggressive and has not bitten us or any of our other 8 dogs, but he will not tolerate being bullied. If you have a dominate dog at home, that likes to push buttons, then Journey may not be a good match, but not to worry, we have other dogs that may fit into that environment, so keep looking through our available dogs!
Journey is a "home body" and likes to stay inside and be with his human(s) as much as possible. When we move, he moves, if we get up, he gets up. Even while outside, he will generally stay by us and will follow us around the yard constantly looking up to see what we are doing. He is very loyal. He does like to go outside and chase after a ball or run with the other dogs in his foster home but not without his person. If we go in, he goes in. He isn't much of a barker but will let you know when he hears or sees something "strange."
He loves feeding time as well as treat time. We are working on the "sit" and "off" command as he gets very excited. He does very well walking on leash but because of his excitable nature must wear a "no slip" or Martingale harness at all times while outside of the house or enclosed backyard.
Overall, Journey would make a wonderful addition to just about anyone's home. Journey is fostered in Huntsville, AL and is a courtesy listing for a fellow rescuer. To complete an application, please email INFO@FORrescue.net
