Bernard's Story...
Bernard is such a big ole soft sweetheart. He is about 4 years old, 78 lbs, has been neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is HW positive, but is currently undergoing slow-kill treatment. He was in rough shape when we picked him up, but his legs are doing much better now - he has no more pain, his coat is getting shinier and his skin issues are completely cleared up. We need a new foster or rescue group for this boy. His current foster home has a lot of other dogs, so Bernard does not get enough one-on-one time that he deserves. He really enjoys getting out into the fresh air, so would love to have a nice yard to play in or a family that can take him on outings. If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt Bernard, please contact his foster mom, Lyda, at 713-416-2118.

About Our Rescue Group...
We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project about a year ago to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 250 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our website is forgottendogs.org and we are a 501c3.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not have a regular adoption site at this time, but stay tuned to our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/ForgottenDogs5) for our upcoming events!
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee ranges from $100 to $150. We have an online application and a contract and all dogs/puppies are either spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough or arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Houston and surrounding areas.
