Simon's Story...
This adorable, scruffy, 35-40 pound dog is Simon. Our best guess is that he is a Schnauzer/Collie Mix. His wire-haired scruffy face is adorable, but it's his beautiful light brown eyes that you won't be able to resist! And, once you get to know his personality, there is no way you can walk away from this dog without taking him home. We think Simon is close to a year old, so he's reached full size.

Simon was dumped out in the country. He found a dog friendly household to hang out at and begged to come inside. For three days, he worked and worked at proving what a good boy he is by playing nicely with the dogs, cats and child at this house. He really wanted to stay there, but they had as many pets as they could handle. Since these good samaritans who fed and comforted him for three days lived close by Almost Home, they knew just where to take him to assure he would find the home he so deserved.

Fortunately, we had space for Simon. But, even if we hadn't, we would have figured a way to make room for him. He is just the nicest dog. He is very gentle and undemanding, submissive with people and other pets and just an all around sweetheart. He gets along with all the other dogs at Almost Home and doesn't mind kitties at all. He loves children and will follow our little human visitors wherever they go!

Simon is heartworm negative and on monthly preventative. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. If you are considering adding him to your pack, please fill out an online application at www.almosthomesanctuary.org. We can't imagine why anyone would dump such a wonderful dog and that makes us even more determined to find him the perfect home where we know he will be loved and wanted forever. Will you be that home?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Simon, a Wright City Schnauzer (Standard)/Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Standard)/Collie for sale in Wright City, or seeking a Schnauzer (Standard)/Collie dog from a breeder in Wright City.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wright City already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wright City breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Standard)/Collie breeders who help with Schnauzer (Standard)/Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wright City paves the way for another one to be saved.
