Ann, the Beautiful Coonhound's Story...

I am Ann sister to Dan and I only play catch to bother him. I am much more lady like, but I love attention. Car rides not so much, a bit sensitive to them. I presently am staying in a barn, so my house manners are a little rusty, but I am smart so I can catch on quickly. I am much prettier than my brother, I have the light brindle color with the contrasting dark. I am great with kids, no ones said anything about cats, so I don't know how I am with them. I would love to come live at your house and give you all my love and attention and go for walks and have you play with me. Love Ann

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Second Chance Dogs was founded by a group of 3 determined women who, for years, independently helped "in need" dogs transform their current situations. In July, 2009, they joined forces and started Second Chance Dogs, a non-profit organization in an effort to help more dogs in more ways. Each member brings to the organization their own special gift, and when combined, allows Second Chance Dogs to offer a variety of services to help rehabilitate and find loving homes from these dogs.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Our pets are in foster homes, and can be viewed online on Petfinder.com and Adopt-a-Pet.com
Our Adoption Process...
1. Indicate Interest about the dog who is available for adoption
2. Discuss the dog’s biography with people who will often be with the dog
3. Make a list of questions about the dog
4. Evaluate the amount of time you can be with the dog…….he/she is a new family member
5. Fill out the adoption application
6. Send photos of the yard(s) & schedule a home visit
7. After Board approval, the foster family will get in touch with you ; scheduling a “meet and greet”
8. One of more Board members will be present at the “meet and greet”
9. A protocol for the “meet and greet” is sent to the people considering adoption.
10. SCD consults may take place throughout the application process. Topics such as dog nutrition; medical needs; training; getting along with other pets in the home may need to be discussed
11. When the “meet and greet” goes 100% well, depending on circumstances, the dog may go home with the new family
12. After the majority of “meet and greets”, the potential adopting family and SCD will review how things went and discuss options (people and/or dog training)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ann, the Beautiful Coonhound, a Roy Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Coonhound for sale in Roy, or seeking a Coonhound dog from a breeder in Roy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Roy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Roy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Coonhound breeders who help with Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Roy paves the way for another one to be saved.
