ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE WHO WILL RETURN YOUR LOVE 100%. This little sweetheart is just the girl....look at that sweet face. She's a gentle little lamb who needs a little special consideration. She is basically blind only seeing shadows BUT SHE GETS AROUND LIKE A CHAMP ONCE SHE KNOWS HER HOME... HER SWEETNESS OUTWEIGHS THE BLINDNESS
Megan is a 7 year old Jack Russell mix who weighs around 17 lbs. Her owners took her to a vet and made the very difficult decision to surrender her so the vet could help her. Megan has been diagnosed with Diabetes and requires 2 shots of insulin daily. Unfortunately since it was not addressed right away Megan is blind. She is doing remarkably well though with adjusting. She is currently being fostered in a family with cats, dogs and children. The children need to approach her by saying her name and letting her know someone is there wanting to touch her. She/any blind dog can be startled if you don't let them know you're near by and may give a warning nip in self defense. With this sudden blindness, Megan is now starting to adjust very well to her limitations but please remember to let her know you're there. ........She had separation anxiety when she first became blind, but is now a little champ that seems to be getting along well. She is very laid back and spends a lot of her time sleeping or wanting to be cuddled and loved. Taking her for walks will be a wonderful way to build a lasting friendship Megan would love to find a family who will love her and take care of her and give her her medicine so she will not have any more complication. She is currently being fostered in Kent. For information on meeting Megan you can contact her foster mom Rhonda at rondanelson@vcahospitals.com or call 253-852-8460

Rescue Group Info...
Second Chance Dogs was founded by a group of 3 determined women who, for years, independently helped "in need" dogs transform their current situations. In July, 2009, they joined forces and started Second Chance Dogs, a non-profit organization in an effort to help more dogs in more ways. Each member brings to the organization their own special gift, and when combined, allows Second Chance Dogs to offer a variety of services to help rehabilitate and find loving homes from these dogs.
Our pets are in foster homes, and can be viewed online on Petfinder.com and Adopt-a-Pet.com
1. Indicate Interest about the dog who is available for adoption
2. Discuss the dog’s biography with people who will often be with the dog
3. Make a list of questions about the dog
4. Evaluate the amount of time you can be with the dog…….he/she is a new family member
5. Fill out the adoption application
6. Send photos of the yard(s) & schedule a home visit
7. After Board approval, the foster family will get in touch with you ; scheduling a “meet and greet”
8. One of more Board members will be present at the “meet and greet”
9. A protocol for the “meet and greet” is sent to the people considering adoption.
10. SCD consults may take place throughout the application process. Topics such as dog nutrition; medical needs; training; getting along with other pets in the home may need to be discussed
11. When the “meet and greet” goes 100% well, depending on circumstances, the dog may go home with the new family
12. After the majority of “meet and greets”, the potential adopting family and SCD will review how things went and discuss options (people and/or dog training)
Second Chance Dogs is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization designed to help rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, abused, neglected and forgotten dogs into loving forever homes.
