My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Deuce!! I'm going to tell you about my sad life, but don't feel sorry for me, okay? Things are looking up!! I know I'll find my perfect forever home & will be so happy! You see, I'm young - only about 1 year old. I have spent my entire life on a chain inside of a pen. I was so miserable & sad & lonely. I was never allowed to be a puppy & play or even bond with humans. My family lived on the road that went to animal control & one day the AC officers were driving by & saw me hanging from my pen. I had jumped the fence out of boredom & my chain was hanging me (don't let that worry you though, my foster mom has a 4 ft fence & I've never jumped that). Not many dogs can say this, but being picked up by animal control that day might have been the best thing that ever happened to me. I then found myself at that very high kill shelter & my lousy people never came for me. Don't doubt for one second I'm not smart. I know what happened to all those poor pups all around me on that Friday morning. Happens there every week, I hear. But, the shelter volunteers had really advocated for me & a lady from YLDR came to save me that Friday morning. She put a harness on me and I kissed her like crazy. She told me it was the "first day of the rest of my life". I am a really good boy & the awesome folks at YLDR sent me away to a top notch training facility for 2 weeks & I came back wonderful. All I really want to do is make people happy & I try so hard. I listen extremely well & have been trained to focus on you. My foster mom taught me to sit & shake in no time! I LOVE to play & ball is my favorite thing ever! Toys are so awesome! I've never had a mean bone in my body towards anyone but I needed to learn how to play with other dogs & be "properly intergrated into a pack". Now I really know how to respect other dogs. My foster mom doesn't have kids, but the shelter volunteer said I was great with her daughter & the trainers daughter was awesome & I loved her! I am so handsome, even with my floppy ears! I have really cool eyes too, if I don't say so myself! I am a really great dog & wouldn't it be awesome to adopt a dog that has already been through training?! I walk very well on a leash & don't pull much at all. I just really enjoy someone spending time with me. I also am very good in a crate. Never have had an accident in my crate and don't make much noise in there at all. If you work and need to leave me, then I really should have a crate because I do still have a lot of puppy in me & am learning not to chew things. Thanks for listening to my sad story. If you would like to meet me, I promise I will give you lots of kisses!!
