Squirt's Story...
Yellow-Bellied Slider ~Trachemys scripta scripta size 8' approx.age 7 years Why oh Why do they sell turtles like us on a beach? I don't even like the ocean. I'm a freshwater girl all the way. But there you go, on an impulse and with no knowledge people pick us up at a festival or beach. A year or two later, they have no idea how to care for us. A lot of my friends here have the same story. Thankfully Arrowhead came to the rescue but there are soooo many of us here. We and our cousins the Red-eared Sliders really need new places to stay. At least most of us do well living with other Yellow-bellied & Red-eared sliders. Do you need an aquatic turtle (or two or three) to brighten your life? About Our Rescue Group...
We are 30+ volunteers made up of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, wildlife rehabilitators, educators, and reptile enthusiasts. I personally am a small animal clinical veterinary technician since 1996, advanced wildlife rehabilitator for the state since 1997, member CART County Animal Rescue Team, member national HSUS N-DART Disaster Response Team, member Ohio Exotic Animal Emergency Response Team. My experience is as an emergency veterinary technician, and more recently hospital manager of a mutli-vet practice. I do this because I love giving up all my time, part of my home, and shoveling all my finances into these animals, and I really enjoy speaking with pet owners at 3am.

Visits to our foster homes to see and adopt the animal are granted by appointment only.
Our Adoption Process...
Adoption fees set half of retail value. Most reptiles adoptions are between $10-50. Approval requires completion of 3-page adoption application, submission of photos of cage and habitat, and veterinarian reference. Adopters sign a basic adoption agreement stating they will provide proper care of the pet for life, which we can provide upon request.

Only reptile rescue for several states. Our clients have come from OH, WV, VA, NY, PA, KY, TN, IN, IL. Our MOU's for emergency response cover 31 counties in OH/KY/IN. Authorized by state of Ohio for disaster response, wildlife rehabilitation, and dangerous animals.
