Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chuck is the sweetest little dog with a huge heart! He is a 1.5 year old golden mix, not sure what he's mixed with, but he's definitely on the small side at only 38 lbs. fully grown. He is a great listener - he even turns his head sideways toward you when you talk to him. He loves to be petted and has the softest bunny-like fur. He also loves to cuddle with his human and canine friends alike. He is interested in interacting with cats, though they aren't very interested in him. He does leave them alone and ignore them with a "leave it" command. He is very smart! He knows sit, down, no, back up, and is learning stay. He is okay on a leash but will need someone willing to work with him to teach him how to walk without pulling and to walk at a heel. He is a sensitive little guy and is very responsive to gentle training and correction methods, so with some time and consistency he'll quickly learn everything he needs to know to be a wonderful companion.
Chuck is a good eater, and is fully crate trained - in fact he loves his crate so much that it is a must-have for his forever family. He does well crated with access to water while his foster family is away at work (no dog bed inside), and at night he sleeps on a dog bed next to his foster family's bed, though they keep him tethered so that he has limited access to chew items that are not his. He does have a tendency to pick things up or start to chew things that are not appropriate, so his new forever home will need to be committed to supervising him when out on walks and around the house until he learns what the "right" things are. For now, his foster mom just tells him "no" and then offers him a nylabone or other hard to destruct dog toy.
If you are interested in giving Chuck a forever home, please fill out an application and one of our GRFR volunteers will contact you soon!
