I am already neutered, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Our 2 year old Shepherd/Hound Mix, Spike is an agile, athletic guy who is looking for an active family. Do you like to walk? Spike is your guy. Do you like to run? Spike would love to do that too! Whatever your activity Spike will fit right in. Spike likes to play catch in the play yard too! Spike seems to be house trained as he promptly does his business when we take him out. When your day is done Spike will be there hanging out on his back for some belly rubs and loving.
Our strikingly handsome boy with the beautiful brindle fur and gorgeous eyes knows sit, paw and walks well on leash, even better on a harness. Come meet handsome Spike today!!

When you come in to adopt it is an application process. You will need to fill out the application; upon approval you will need proof of homeownership, mortgage, tax, or sewer bill. If you rent your home, you will need a copy of your lease showing it is ok for you to have pets. If it is not in your original signed lease you will need to get a notarized letter from your landlord. Cat adoption fees are $75.00 plus $50.00 for the spay/neuter. Dog adoption fees vary. Please feel free to call the office with any question; we are here 7 days a week for adoptions between 12pm and 5pm.
The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. We comprise three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls . Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
The Society is a not for profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, and Popcorn Park is also a federally licensed zoo. The Society prides itself on our devotion to the thousands of animals that we care for annually and the chance for a better life we offer them. Please learn more about the Society and Popcorn Park Zoo throughout our web site, watch A Century of Caring, visit the zoo, public service, giving back, and the various programs we have for them. Come back often ... good things are always happening because AHS cares!
