Beluga's Story...
Look at us and our beautiful long hair, shy smiles, and striking markings. We are beautiful petite female “teenage” cats who were born in May of 2012. We were born into a colony (near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland) of about forty black and white cats, many of whom are as beautiful as us. Our mommy, daddy, aunt, and many brothers and sisters were rescued in September.

We have so many brothers and sisters, we cannot have the run of the house. Therefore, we have not yet begun to fully blossom as we will when you take us home with you and spend time alone with us—so we are still a bit shy. We are loving, like to be petted, will watch and wait for you to come visit. If you want a big laugh, play with us and you will see our uninhibited selves come out…we love to run around and around and around while chasing a swirling cat toy. We likely will grow to be a medium size since our mommy is a beautiful long haired cat who looks a lot like us.

We get along very well with other cats. We love to preen when a handsome male cat comes by you will see our long fur and tails fluff up. We have not yet had the opportunity to meet a dog but am sure we will like it once we get used to it. We would love the opportunity to come home, “spread our wings” and become your forever friend.

Both girls are spayed and neutered, have had FVRCP and rabies shots, and test negative for FIV/FeLV.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Beluga, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
