My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

RAIN came to us from Kentucky. This nice girl was found cowering under a car during a thunderstorm. She was covered in fleas, missing small patches of fur and having painful bilateral ear infections. Her front teeth are nubs and her other teeth have been filed down by previous owner or badly worn down. She still has enough teeth to eat dry food without difficulty. She's safe, bathed, vetted and given food---what a nice German Shorthaired Pointer! She loves to place her head on your lap or cuddle next to you on the couch & be petted. She will follow caregiver around in the backyard keeping within eye sight. She is slightly possessive and prefers not to share attention - but this is mild and not overly so. Rain is 51 pounds, liver and white with full natural tail -- not docked -- and approx 6 - 7 years old. Spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and started on prevention. Somewhat timid and hesitant at first. This girl needs a patient, quiet, home where she can feel safe in knowing a human won't hurt her with a heavy hand. One with love and not neglect. She is curious / questionable with cats and seems to tolerate most dogs. She loves to play and wrestle with the border collie mix male in the same foster home. Although a bird dog, she shows no interest in them. Will not jump a fence. Best in home with another laid back dog or no other dog. Walks well on leash, likes to ride in car, crate trained -- but crate isn't necessary, she does fine at night without crating. She is house trained and isn't a barker or jumper. Rain wants to share affection, she has lots to give! She is a special needs dog -- she was abused and will cower at raised voices or if someone grabs at her neck / collar to attach leash. She doesn't like the lower parts of her ears touched. Rubbing her head is fine. During October, we found her terrified, badly shaking & pacing in the house when the furnace first kicked in during cold weather. With reassurance - this has changed - she is now OK with. <><><><> For the right home, her adoption fee is reduced. We have a generous soul who has donated part of her adoption fee. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
