My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adopted 4-28-13; unavailable. Original bio below:

Maxamilian is a pure-bred salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer male. He's approximately 2.5 years old & weighs 17 lbs. His tail is docked & his ears are not cropped. Max was living in the streets. He was underweight, dirty, matted, starving, & had no energy when we got him. He was also so exhausted from having to be alert to danger that he slept for 10 hours after he got his bath & his first meal with us. We've fed him 3 meals a day to get his weight up faster & he loves his raw food diet. Max is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, professionally groomed, examined by our vet, & just had a dental by our vet.

He's an awesome dog & is true to his breed. The Miniature Schnauzer is an intelligent, loving, happy dog. It's affectionate, keen, devoted, & docile. It gets along well with children and likes to be with his people. Max has an outstanding temperament. He would be an excellent dog for a family with children. He's a gentle dog with a very easy, mellow nature. He gets along great with his other small foster K9 friends. Mini Schnauzers make a good companion & family pet. Like all smart breeds, the human must be the pack leader or the Mini Schnauzer will not listen if it senses it is stronger minded than its owner. Owners need to be calm, but firm, possessing a natural air of authority. These dogs do not have a yappy bark, but rather they make sounds like a low, carried-out howl of a voice. They make a good watchdog & vermin hunter, & are an easy dog to travel with. Max is a happy guy & "talks" to his foster parents by making little low sounds while his tail wags. Max is being crate trained in his foster home for meals & bed time; he's wonderful about it & may have done this in his original home. He's a delightful & charming dog who will be a great addition to his new family. Everyone who meets this handsome boy gives him "4 paws up."

Max is 100% potty trained & goes outdoors. He's had no accidents at his foster home. He's good about everything... the vet, the groomer, riding in the car, & meeting new people & small dogs, & walking on the leash. He enjoys being outside & going for walks. Max is a relaxed dog who would do best either in an all adult home or a home with children (8 years & up who have small dog experience & know how to properly treat them). He would enjoy having another mellow K9 friend in his forever home, but it's not required since people are his definite favorite. If you have the type of home he needs, click here Adoption Guidelines to read our adoption criteria & complete an adoption application. Max's adoption donation is $485 & includes his lifetime microchip registration. Thank you for choosing to adopt & save the life of a homeless pet!
