My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

3/29/13 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $150

Fostered in Texas

Age: 11 years

Weight: 4 lbs.

3/13/13 - Now that we have figured out my medical issues and know that no surgery is needed, I would like to let you know a little about myself, who I am and where I came from.

When my foster mom picked me up from the shelter, it literally wasn’t a minute too soon. I was scheduled to be euthanized in minutes! The shelter didn’t think they could adopt me out. They say that I was surrendered by my owner. But who in the world would leave a senior baby girl at a kill shelter with severely matted hair and nails that curled under like corkscrews? We can only assume that my “owners” were breeders since I was in such bad shape and have boobies in the shape of a pup that was bred over and over.

This would also explain my personality. I don’t expect much and just really enjoy sleeping. Then again, I am 12 and what 12 year old wouldn’t enjoy sleeping! The one thing that truly makes me come alive is when I hear the dinner bell. I can hear kitchen noises a mile away even in the deepest of sleep. I am truly food motivated. Foster mom laughs because I run circles around the island in the kitchen while she’s preparing my meal. Don’t even get me started about how excited I get from the sound of the treat package crackling!!

Foster mom says that I am a cutie, but I have to say, I take to the men a little more. I love my foster mom for saving me, but there is something about foster dad that draws me to him more. Foster dad wants you to know that since most likely I have been caged my whole life, one thing I love more than anything is a good petting, or scratching on my back, chin, tummy…you name it! ATTENTION ROCKS! So pet me, and you will become my best friend! Man, he knows me so well!

Ok, so I am a senior, and I have hip dysplasia and luxating patellas. But, the orthopedic surgeon said that he does not recommended surgery because I get around just fine and do not exhibit any pain. No, I am not totally potty trained, and am not your typical Yorkie in that I need to be attached to you at all times. The thing is, I’ve never really been wanted, needed, or loved, so my personality reflects this in that I don’t want, need, or act as if I expect any love. I really would like it though!

So, if you’d like to give a Golden Girl a place to live out her golden years and don’t expect much in terms of a real go-getter, I could definitely see me packing my bags and unloading them at your house. I know there is someone who doesn’t care about age, spunk and playfulness and just would love to have this adorable face light up their residence! Oh, and did I mention that most of the time my tongue sticks out to the side? Foster mom says it’s sooo adorable.

2/7/13 - Macy went to her appt. at Gulf Coast yesterday and the good news is that Dr. Beale does not recommended FHO or Luxating Patella surgery for Macy. He informed that even though the x-rays show that she has hip dysplasia and her knees are not in place, due to her age and the fact that she does not exhibit any pain, he does not feel the necessity to put her through any surgery at this point.

Her walk is a little out of whack, but Macy doesn't seem to mind, so we are sure that neither will her next mom and/or dad.

We will now continue with scheduling her dental and then she will be accepting applications for parents.

Macy wants to thank everyone who graciously donated to the surgery that we thought she was going to need. Even though she does not have to have any leg surgery, the donations will go towards her vets bills accumulated thus far and her upcoming dental.

2/3/13 - Macy went to the vet again because see was urinating frequently. Seems she has a UTI and has crystals in her urine. The vet put her on Clavamox for the UTI and changed her diet in an attempt to dissole the crystals. She is on Royal Canin SO wet food. She also has severe dental disease which will need to be addressed before her surgery for her hip. On a good note, her heart and lungs sounded good.

Her appt. with Gulf Coast is still scheduled for 2/6 and then we will know exactly what we are dealing with for Macy’s legs and what surgery will need to be done and how much it will cost. Please keep her in your prayers.

1/24/13 - Macy was surrendered by her owners to a kill shelter in need of some very major surgery. Seems that she has severe hip dysplasia in both hips and arthritis. She also may have to have luxating patella surgery on both knees as they are grade 3 and 4. We just picked her up from the shelter yesterday just in the nick of time...poor baby was scheduled for euthanasia. She saw a vet today and has an appointment with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston on February 6th. Even though we do not have a definite estimate at this time, we are assuming that if both surgeries are needed, this could possibly run $5,000. We would appreciate any monetary donations towards Macy’s surgery so that we are able to give this baby the legs that her previous owners did not think she deserved.
