Simon's Story...

Could this be your new best friend?

Simon says, 'I want a home!'

As a puppy, Simon was found running down the street near the downtown Waco library. He is 9 years old now, so that means he has spent almost all of his life at Fuzzy Friends Rescue. While he receives so much love from volunteers and staff members, he is still waiting for a home to call his very own.

Simon is very friendly and easygoing, not to mention HAND-SOME! He enjoys going for walks, and is great in public. He would make an excellent running/walking partner for an adult. He absolutely loves to ride in the car and will sit very stately and calmly in the backseat. He has had some obedience training while at Fuzzy Friends, so he understands the 'heel' command and walks very well on a leash.

One of Simon's favorite past times is fetching his squeaky toy. He will run to get it then bring it back to engage you in a game of tug. He loves the water, and will take a dip in his kiddie pool every chance he gets. Since he loves the water, he does very well for baths, too.

Unfortunately, Simon is not good with cats or small children. In addition, he can only tolerate other dogs for a short period of time. But what he's really great with is people. A little attention from you means so much to him and he loves being rubbed. We strongly feel Simon would do best as the only pet in the home of an experienced dog owner.

Simon hopes that you will come see him today and fall in love!

About Our Shelter...
Fuzzy Friends Rescue believes that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for the animals. Our mission is to provide shelter, food, medical treatment and love to our community’s animals that are abandoned, unwanted, or otherwise in need. We want to instill in our community an awareness of the animals whose world we share; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Fuzzy Friends Rescue is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) animal welfare organization that cares for homeless and unwanted animals in a life-care environment. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another, and we care for all those we take in until they are adopted.

We try to place these animals in new homes with caring families as soon as possible. Some stay at Fuzzy Friends Rescue only a matter of days or weeks, but sometimes it takes months of care and rehabilitation before they are able to go to a new home. In some cases for those harder- to- place animals, their stay may be a year or more. Unless they have developed an incurable disease or they are aggressive they have a home at Fuzzy Friends Rescue until they can be found a permanent, loving home.

Our Adoption Process...
DOGS/PUPPIES:
- fees vary (see animal's description for his/her adoption fees

CATS/KITTENS:
- Cats and Kittens - $110
- Cats (5 years and up) - $55

ALL adoption fees include: any vaccinations that are given from incoming date to adoption date, heartworm test on dogs over 6 months old, Feline Leukemia Test/FIV test on all cats and kittens, spay or neuter surgery, microchip and microchip registration and any other medical procedure performed prior to adoption. (Such as heartworm treatment, de-worming etc.)

IN ORDER TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL, you must:
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have legal identification with your current address
• Be able to verify that you can have a pet where
you live if you rent or proof that you own your home.

After your complete an adoption application, it is sent to our review board, this process takes about 24 – 48 hours. If approved, you will be asked to come back to the facility to complete the formal adoption process.
Understand that FUZZY FRIENDS RESCUE reserves the right to deny an adoption for any reason.

No animal is more valuable than any other. The difference in fees is to help us cover the expense of caring for the younger animals since they require more vaccinations and medical expense than a lot of the adult animals. Also, the older animals are often over looked and the reduction in their fee will hopefully help place them in homes so they can live out their retirement years being loved in a home environment.
