Meet Shiner! He is an 10 mo old German Shepherd/Corgi mix.

Weight: 30 lbs

Shiner is good with other dogs and with children, He is a very playful and sweet puppy. He loves to play with a ball and will actually entertain himself by picking up the ball, letting it roll away from him and then chasing it. He's so cute. He has gotten along great with the foster families other pets. He loves to be petted and have his belly rubbed. Shiner has periods of playfulness but he is also very calm when he needs to be. He doesn't bite or nip and he knows basic commands like "Sit" and "Down" Shiner is very easy to care for and would make a great family pet.

Shiner was rescued from the kill shelter in San Antonio and am currently in a foster home with SA ROCKS.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
San Antonio ROCKS is a non-profit organization that was created to bring awareness to our cities homeless animal situation. Our organization is run by a group of committed volunteers who are dedicated to helping San Antonio become a no-kill city.
More than a rescue, SAROCKS is focused on bringing awareness and alternatives to kill shelters by implementing community programs that educate the public about our homless stray population.
Founded in late 2012, a collective group of individuals came together after spending countless days and sleepless nights pleading for the city's homeless pets, only to find that most of the efforts were in vain. Many animals remain homeless in our city and continue to be euthanized daily because there is no place for them to go. Our organization not only focuses on our current pet crisis by offering foster and adoption programs, but also focuses on the education of our young generation, so that they will be able to continue our efforts into making our city a no-kill city.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shiner, a San Antonio German Shepherd Dog/Corgi puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Corgi for sale in San Antonio, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Corgi puppy from a breeder in San Antonio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Antonio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Antonio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Corgi breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Corgi rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Antonio paves the way for another one to be saved.
