We are a small, cageless sanctuary that specializes in the stray and feral cats no matter what age. We deal mostly with the abused, traumatized or high risk cats or kittens. Move them on to a healthy state of body and mind, socialize them and try to find the right home for each of them. If unadoptable, they live here with us. We have a large cat enclosure that attaches to our home, so the cats can be outside and still be safe.
Why do I rescue? Because I love and understand these cats and work with them on their timeline, not mine. I am a Professional Member of The Cat Writers' Association and earn some monies from my writing. I have been published in multiple cat magazines with articles on cat care, behavior, etc.. Some people consider me a cat expert, but I don't share that thought. I learn daily and my best teachers are the cats who pass through our home.
I go to the homes of the potential adopters. I have gone as far as Idaho to place a cat. I want to know where the cat will live- I want to meet the family who I might entrust the cat's care too. Very rarely do I open my home to have people come here. I have found in the past that when I did this, my backyard has several new strays in it the next morning.
Potential adopter needs to fill out an application form- once the information has been verified and approved, a home visit is scheduled. The cat or kitten goes with me but as I tell everyone wanting to adopt- if I sense anything wrong or amiss, the kitten or cat will come back home with me.
The economy is in the tank in this small town so rehoming fee is based on a donation only.
