Sammy's Story...
When we first heard about Sammy, a nine year old chocolate lab, we couldn’t stop crying. The next door neighbor of his original owner contacted us recently about Sammy's terrible circumstances. Unfortunately, Sammy’s 92 year old owner was hospitalized and would not be returning home. With only an older sister living in Chicago and no other family to speak of, there was no one left to take care of Sammy. Thankfully the neighbor was able to rescue Sammy after two days locked in a bedroom with no food or water. Southern Skies Labrador Rescue & Adoption has taken Sammy into our care, where he has received been updated on all his shots, as well as heartworm and flea & tick preventative. Now Sammy is relaxing in his foster home with a bone and a blanket on the couch waiting for his forever home. If you are interested in a senior dog who enjoys the art of relaxing in front of a fire, send in your application for Sammy.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Huntsville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Huntsville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Huntsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Huntsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Huntsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Huntsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
