My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"A sweet little red headed Irish-looking gal should have a similarly sweet and beautiful name," said one of our volunteers - and so HEATHER was christened! She was surrendered to a local kill shelter after being attacked by a large dog. They didn't want to pay for HEATHER's vet bills. Terrified, traumatized and truly freaked out, HEATHER was left with nasty looking puncture wounds on her back end. Unsure of the extent of her injuries, the Intake Coordinators at Ay Chihuahua Rescue didn't care what they might be - they fell in love with little HEATHER and vowed to make it right - both physically and emotionally. A swift trip to our favorite vet, and Balcones happily declared her bones intact, but her puncture wounds deep into the muscle tissue and infected. They will heal - faster than her psyche most likely, but HEATHER is gaining more and more confidence every day. Her shy and skittish behavior is slowly transforming to a sweet acceptance of kindness and her eyes are no longer as haunted as they were upon her arrival. HEATHER is only 1 year old and a wee 5 lbs of recovering pup. She will need an understanding family that can see past her recent trauma and glimpse the sweet and loving Chihuahua just ready to burst forth!
