This is Sophie! So stunning!!
Sophie had a rough beginning. Our MO foster mom was contacted by one of her followers about this girl being in a very bad situation at her current home. She was in a very neglectful/dangerous environment and her time was running out from either being taken to a high kill shelter or worse. This kind woman was so determined to save this dogs life, she drove hours and hours to get her to our MO sanctuary.
We believe Sophie to be an aussie/collie mix. She is about two years old and weighs 70 pounds. She has the most softest fur. She is fine with other dogs, but is unsure at first with humans, nothing extreme, but you have to go slow with her. Once she trusts you, she transforms into this amazing companion who will follow you everywhere.
Sophie loves to be petted, but is still very wary when you raise your hand toward her face and snout...so sad what that indicates. She is very good in our fosters house and sleeps quietly in her crate. She is also doing very well with leash training.
She is now fully vetted, spayed and HW negative. Please consider giving this big beautiful girl a loving (and safe!) home she has unlikely ever experienced before in her life.
Thank you for your interest in a recue dog...they are the best!!

Interested in adopting this fantastic canine? Please visit our website and complete an online application – we respond much quicker to applications than to emails as we receive a voluminous amount of email each day and it’s impossible to respond to all of them in a timely manner even though we try.
Application: http://www.pawsnewengland.com/adoption-form/
An application does not mean you are required to adopt – it just lets us know you are seriously considering this dog for adoption.
QUARANTINE: Paws New England participates and abides by the quarantine rules and regulations set forth in the states of MA, CT, RI. In certain instances, a $75.00 quarantine fee will be applicable.
UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE LOCATED OUTSIDE OF RHODE ISLAND BOARDED EITHER PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES OR TRAINING FACILITIES. If a dog is listed as "local", he /she is at one of our foster homes in New England.
We are often asked, "Why would you charge 'so much' for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support ALL rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in discounted vet care, and many people will want to adopt it; an older dog with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt him/her. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others.
Rescue Group Info...
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
All of our dogs are located either in foster homes in New England or Tennessee/Missouri. Please email our volunteers to ask about the specific pet that you are interested in.
