My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Lady and my dream is to have a forever home. I was trying to survive life on my own when a kind police officer found me and brought me to the people at Barrio Dogs. I am now spayed, up to date on all my shots and looking good. I was heartworm positive when I was rescued but that is almost cleared up and I am doing fine on the preventative medicine.

The bad news is that I have a malignant tumor in one of my hind legs. The tumor had been gone for a while but it recently came back. The good news is it does not cause me much pain right now.

No one is quite sure what to do about my cancer. The doctors say I am not strong enough for chemotherapy, as I am a dainty 38 pounds. Some doctors say my leg must be amputated to fix the problem. Whatever the case, I am a brave, happy dog who always looks on the bright side. But whether it’s chemo or surgery, I just don’t want to have to recover from it in the boarding facility. I’ve been there since November and am very ready to get on with my life.

I know that everyone at Barrio Dogs loves me and is working hard to find me a home. I have a very soft coat and what I’m told are the cutest eyebrows in the world. They say I am a sweetheart because I don’t jump on people and my favorite thing is to cuddle up with one of my human friends. I walk well on a leash and love to ride in the car. I am not sure about cats but I get along well with the other dogs at my facility.

I have a lot of love to give and I just need that one person to give me a chance. If you’re interested in knowing more about me, please contact tauna@barriodogs.org.
