Spuds's Story...
Meet Spuds--Spuds was born on the streets just north of Downtown Houston in the Hardy Street/Cavalcade area (5th Ward). He and his brother Sparky along with their mother would cross busy streets in all kinds of traffic to find food and water. Eventually they made friends with a rescuer who was able to catch them when they were about 12-weeks old.

Spuds, a Blue Healer mix, is six months old, happy, energetic and loving. He is neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on all of his vaccines and flea/heart worm prevention. Spuds is very, very smart. His trainer said he was her “star” pupil!

Until recently, Spuds had been living in a boarding facility. After a few months of kennel life, a few weeks of training and making friends, Spuds is now in a foster home with his brother, Sparky, and is on the lookout for his forever family and his forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spuds, a Houston Blue Heeler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Blue Heeler for sale in Houston, or seeking a Blue Heeler dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Blue Heeler breeders who help with Blue Heeler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
