Sophie's Story...
COURTESY POSTING: Sophie is 12 years old and weighs around 35 lbs. Her family of 10 years can no longer keep her, so she is looking for a new forever home. She is tri-colored and her hair grows very long if not groomed. She has always been a very sweet, calm and quiet dog. She is very loyal to her “mom”, generally staying in the same room. At night she sleeps in the doorway to the bedroom or at the end of the hall between the bedroom and the front door. While we can’t imagine her taking any aggressive action, it is clear that she is looking out for her mom. Sophie doesn't play with toys, but gets very excited about food of any kind. However, her diet needs to be watched closely so she doesn’t get overweight. Her general health is good, but the vet feels that she has some food allergies, which manifest as ear infections and skin issues, particularly on her paws. She has done much better (and lost her excess weight) since she was switched to a mostly grain-free diet. Sophie does fine with rice, but does not tolerate wheat, corn, or soy.

If you have questions about Sophie or would be interested in adopting her, please contact her “mom” (Lynda) at lmgerhardstein@yahoo.com as soon as possible. Do NOT contact the humane society or complete an online application, and NO PHONE CALLS, please.

Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption process begins with an application. This is a tool we use to make good home matches for our foster animals. Our standard adoption donation is $125 for adult toy breeds, and all breeds of puppies under 6 months old. Other adult dogs are $85 , unless they are a giant breed and the cost goes up per our cost for surgery. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and de-worming. Dogs over six months old are heartworm tested. Our standard adoption donation for cats is $40 and kittens under 6 months old $60. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, de-worming and feline testing. We regularly run specials on companion cats, adopt one at regular cost, and get its companion for free. We have periodic promotions for reduced prices for all black dogs and cats, for senior pets, and for pets with special needs.
